About the Role 

Our Front End Engineer will be a UI layout and styling centered role, with light client-facing responsibilities. You will work with the UX Engineering Lead, Engineering and Product teams, and Client Success teams to build and improve our front end experiences' look, feel, and design, and help our clients with their customizations (within bounds) of their installations of our products.

What You Will Do

  • Build, collaborate on, and maintain front-end applications including 3rd party web applications which integrate simply and seamlessly with our clients’ web pages, across modern browsers and various device sizes

  • Collaborate effectively with product team, designers, and other engineers to analyze user needs and scope new feature development

  • Write extensible, clean layout, and style code with an eye towards maintainability and reusability

  • Ensure high-quality visual standards and brand consistency

  • Suggest improvements and fixes for clients who override or customize our styles on their installed experiences

  • Create prototypes and demos of future/experimental new experiences

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Modern JavaScript experience and proficiency

  • Experience with, or strong interest in, Svelte.js

  • Proficiency with modern CSS (or compile-to-CSS alternatives)

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Work experience as a front-end developer

  • Ability to faithfully implement designs from Figma or similar tools, but also give feedback and recommendations about potential gaps and improvements to the design

  • Ability to work quickly, exercise judgment, and lead discussion about the right level of polish & functional orientation (flexible, configurable vs. rigid, single clear purpose) for the task at hand

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Proficiency in measuring and optimizing front-end performance

  • Experience with, or interest in, ClojureScript

  • React.js experience

  • Experience working in, or with, the retail industry

  • Experience working on, or integrating with, large retail e-commerce sites

  • Experience working on, or integrating with, adtech

  • React Native or any native mobile app development experience

Salary

When we find the right person, we try to put our best foot forward with an offer that excites you and is fair on our end. We consider the skills and experience you bring, what similar jobs pay and make sure there’s equal pay for equal work among those you’ll be working with. The compensation amount for this role is targeted at $150-180k. The final offer also takes into account other factors of a total compensation package such as an annual bonus and stock options. Please note that the range is being shared in good faith and is subject to modification based on changing market and business conditions.
